Documentaries
Jesus Camp - a documentary about Evangelical extremists camps for children
I don't know where the line between extreme religion and cult lies, but this group blurs it a bit. Children should be free to run around and play in the mud with toys. These children are forced to actively participate in this extreme religion. The parents claim the kids chose this life, but 5-year-olds can't honestly chose much of anything. There brains are not developed enough to make major decisions about their life. The kids speak in tongues and sometimes have convulsions during praying. It is a frightening sight to see. It is hard to respect others religions when they seem like they are violating the rights of so many other people.
Control Room - a documentary on Al Jazeera and the Iraqi war
Americans pride themselves on the right to freedom of speech. However, out televised news is heavily censored, especially with the War on Iraq. We don't see the big picture, the media wants us to support the war and doesn't show all the negativity and lives lost. No news station wants to be known as the station that is depressing and only show downward broadcasts, so they replace all the negative images on Iraq. We never see how American coffins are coming back. Al Jazeera shows the other side of the war, the side we never hear about, or at least don't want to hear about.

I have come to realize that some things in California are COMPLETELY different in New York,
like weather:

I never really know what the weather is going to be. I'll wear rainboots and it ends up being super hot and humid. Other days I'll wear a summer dress only to have it soaked by the pouring rain. The east coast is strange place to live. The concept of humidity is something completely new to me, as well as snow, and rain in the summer.
